It is not cricket. Cricket is known to be the game of nobles
and fair play. Imran Khan, instead of trying to play well and leading his team
to play well, is totally deviating from the norms of fair play. He is solely
relying on the third umpire to raise his finger in his favour. It is neither ‘inqalab’
nor ‘Insaf’ (justice). It is not democratic either. In democracy decisions have to be made in consultation
of all the members of the team within the democratic norms set by the society but
Imran Khan is the sole decision maker of all the major things and he mostly
uses the world ‘I’ instead of we. For example, one day he announced that he
thought for about twelve hours and then had gone to decide he is going to start
civil disobedience movement against the government. What does it mean? Obviously,
it is autocratic signifying that he is the only decision-maker in his party. He
gives an impression that he is shy of making a consultation within his party
people. He is not consistent in his approach of making his speeches. He, in a
single sentence gets furious at the high esteem and at the same time pleading
Nawaz Sharif to get out of power. When he gets furious his language is always
un-parliamentary and un-called for. He has exposed himself that he does not
have leadership qualities at all. He mostly talks about himself when he says
“if I am killed you should not spare Nawaz Sharif and all his families (kill
them all)”. A true leader must talk of his people first and then talk about
himself. Only with his paltry existence (about 35) he is going to demand what
is totally unjustified and unrealistic. What a justice he is trying to enforce.
All the democratic forces of the country have joined hands
with the democracy to protect the constitution. Almost all the members of the
national assembly (300) have expressed solidarity and vowed to protect the
constitution. The senate has also done so. All the civil society have moved to
agitate against long marches and Imran Khan Movement.
He is very abrupt in turning against those who make any sort
of judgments and decisions against him. For example, Imran Khan has turned
against all the caretaker machinery, the election commission and the ex-chief
Justice of Pakistan. He has partially deviated from his behavior, when USA and
UK have talked in favor of the democracy in Pakistan. Imran Khan uttered some
words against the USA but kept quiet for the UK. He does not want to wait at
all and wants to become Prime minister instantaneously. Expecting and realizing that the third
Umpire’s finger to be risen in his favor he has totally parted his ways from
the democratic means. He will only look towards the un-democratic means.
Imran Khan has parted his ways from the democratic means of
getting into power. He has fallen in a ditch and he will never be able to get
out of it. Those who persuaded and helped him fall into this ditch have nothing
to lose but Imran Khan has totally diverted himself from objective of becoming
the prime minister. He will look towards to another third umpire in his favour
some other day. God forbid that ‘some other day’ should never come and even if
it does it will not be what he is aspiring for. What a sad end to Imran Khan’s political
career?
